Played with various materials, by 1st Nation Great Turtle Island, Pacific Peoples, Inuit, Aotearoa/New Zealand Maori, Indian, French, the Celts, Indian and Japanese. This version of kendama is called "Nichi Getsu Ball". (Sun Moon Ball),was invented in 1918 by Hamaji Egusa (Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture).
