Maori Health Research Awards
The HRC offers eight types of career development awards, ranging in value
from $3,000 to approximately $50,000 for senior awards. The deadline for
all awards is 5pm on 1 September, 2000. The categories include:
Summer Studentships - ($3,000 - 10 available) Enable tertiary students
to train during the summer break with a health research team.
Junior Awards in Health Research -(Up to $5,500 - 8 available)
For students completing the research component of a Masters, BMedSci or
equivalent qualification in a health field.
Rangahau Hauora Awards - (Up to $12,000 - up to 3 available) Enable
people with a background in Maori community health activities to obtain
training in research skills for a particular research skills for a particular
research project for up to six months.
Postgraduate Scholarships in Maori Health Research - (Up to $23,000
- 2
available) Provides a stipend for up to three years for outstanding graduate
students in any discipline whose PhD research is relevant to Maori health.
Training Fellowships in Maori Health Research - (2 available) Provides
a salary for up to three years full time for study towards a postgraduate
degree in Maori health research in conjunction with research experience.
Eru Pomare Research Fellowship in Maori Health (1 available) Provides
a salary for up to three years for an emerging leader in Maori health
research who has completed their training and is establishing their career
at a tertiary institution.
Hohua Tutengaehe Research Fellowship in Maori Health (1 available)
Provides a salary for up to three years for an emerging leader in Maori
health research who has completed their training and plans to investigate
particular health issues from a community perspective.
Erihapeti Rehu-Murchie Research Fellowship in Maori Health (1 available)
Provides a salary for up to three years for an emerging leader in Maori
health
research who has completed their training and plans to investigate particular
health issues.

Maori and Polynesian Higher Education Scholarships
Awarded on academic merit to those students who have passed bursary or
scholarship examinations and who wish to study full time at a recognised
tertiary institution. The scholarship covers payment of full tuition fees,
the
equivalent of student allowance and payment of an A Bursary.
