Aorere Scholarships
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade are offering four or more (depending on
quality of applicants) scholarships to Mäori students who will be in their final
year studying towards a post-graduate or co joint LLB degree. Scholarships
are worth $4000. Closing date: 31 October each year. The aim of this
scholarship is to encourage more Mäori to work at Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Trade, although recipients of this scholarship are not bonded to
work there.

Community Employment Group Scholarships
Te Tohu Taakaro o Aotearoa Charitable Trust announces new sports
scholarships under the Mana Mahi Mana Taakaro Programme. Up to 15 new Community Employment Group Scholarships of $1000 each are available for Maori teenagers who show sporting excellence. Applications close: September 30.

Mäori students enrolled for the Diploma of Teaching are eligible to apply for a scholarship at the end of each year of full-time diploma study and at the end of one year full-time study leave for B Ed degree at the University of Otago. $500 for first and second year scholarships and $1000 for final year.

ECNZ is offering scholarships to students who have elected to concentrate their studies in science, technology, engineering and management fields. The scholarships are worth $4000 per year and vacation work is offered.

Ministry of Women’s Affairs Scholarship
Karahipi Wahine Mäori / Mäori Women’s Scholarship

This scholarship, established and administered by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, is open to a Mäori woman living in New Zealand who is in her final year of full-time study and who is studying public policy or diploma full-time. Scholarships are worth $3,500 for the academic year and paid employment in the Ministry
is offered. Applicants must not be in receipt of another scholarship or award. Closing date: 31 January.

Ministry of Commerce are offering a scholarship to Mäori students who are about to commence their final or post-graduate year of study at a tertiary institution, in accounting, business or law. Students must be attending a university or polytech in the Northland/Auckland/Waikato area

Ministry for the Environment Scholarships in Resource Management
Five scholarships in Resource Management have been established by the Ministry for the Environment. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage Mäori to pursue studies in the field of natural resource management and environmental
planning and to increase the number of Mäori with tertiary qualifications working in the fields of resource management and environmental planning. Applicants should be able to show their involvement in Maoritanga and their links with their whanau / hapu and iwi and they should demonstrate their commitment to their iwi and a willingness to contribute their skills to iwi runanga development.
Closing date: 31 October.
